Agatized Coral occurs when porous coral is present in silica-rich water, which hardens and replaces the original calcium carbonate coral structure with microcrystalline silica, resulting in a gemstone-like material. It is a silicate/chalcedony mineral. Trace elements present during the fossilization process can lead to beautiful color variations.
